Personal Effects

September 7, 2013 - September 28, 2013

Many, perhaps most people, have personal items that they keep close, as constant reminders of their values, as focal points of contemplation, and as useful tools for problem-solving. The objects help 'set the tone' or create the proper 'state' out of which their practices emerge. If 'the house was burning down,' these are among the objects that would be saved. The contributors to this exhibition have generously shared some of their most prized possessions, and in aggregate, brought into relief a critical aspect of the creative milieu.

Participants include James Alefantis, Eames Armstrong, Philip Barlow, Holly Bass, Sandra Beasley, Kristina Bilonick, Calder Brannock, Gareth Branwyn, Natalie Campbell, Billy Colbert, Cynthia Connolly, Buck Downs, Hasan Elahi, Alberto Gaitán, Nathaniel Grann, Linda Hesh, Bill Hill, Brian Liu, Katie Macyshyn, Renee Regan, Brigitte Reyes, W.C. Richardson, Siobhan Rigg, Robin Schaefer, Renee Stout, Jordan Swartz, Sarah Tanguy, Richard Vosseller, Rex Weil, Zac Willis, and Martine Workman.
